Batey Bould Ride

From 11:00

At Batey-Bould ORV Trailhead

During September's PANTRA meeting, Newport-Sullivan Lake District Ranger Gayne Sears and Pend Oreille County Commissioner Mike Manus brought to the table issues regarding the future of the Batey-Bould Trail System.

District Ranger Gayne Sears discussed liability and sustainability issues within the trail system that may partially or completely close the Batey-Bould Trail System down.  She said she would make a determination following a report from an evaluation team she was sending up the following week.

County Commissioner Mike Manus was at the meeting to discuss his idea of enhancing the Batey-Bould Trail System and make it a "destination" place to ride rather than to close it.

With seemingly competing visions of the future of Batey-Bould, the first order of business was to wait for the liability and sustainability report before any call-to-action was initiated.  The good news is the report came back with "better than expected" trail conditions with the exception of one bridge that is not usable/safe and needs to be replaced and/or the trail rerouted.

Currently a meeting has been scheduled tentatively around the end of November with Gayne Sears to discuss the short and long term future of Batey-Bould and what will be required in the way of repair, maintenance, and enhancements.

To help prepare for the meeting, this will be a fun 'trail evaluation' ride so those that are interested can see first hand what will be required for the short and long term viability of Batey-Bould.

I am glad that there’s a organization here in Idaho that actually is trying to Preserve Trails and work along with forestry and Land Management Companies to be able to keep these trails open so that single track Riders can be able to still ride here legally. And you guys are actually putting together organized rides to where people can learn that there is more places than just here in the local Coeur d’Alene area to ride that are actually legal and there maintain Trails. I’d like to be able to ride with you guys at this date leibold pride in two weeks I guess that’s on the 15th and I will send in a membership here on next week Wednesday fee so that I can be a part of your organization here in Idaho thank you so much and hope to see you guys there on the right. We plan on leaving the staging area at 11:00. We’re asking anybody that’s planning on going to be there early enough to be geared up and ready to go by then.
