PANTRA & USFS

**There is a 90% chance of rain on Saturday so the Forest Service has asked us to reschedule our Graham & Coal Creek Partnership Work Day because of the wet trails and possible damage to the already completed tread work. We will let you know as soon as we have a rescheduled date for the project. Thank you for your willingness to help and patience!**

Please mark your calendars for a day of trail work with PANTRA and the Forest Service. Your trails will thank you!

Please view the attached map to see the system of trails involved with the trail work day on Sat. July 9. The FS trail crew will be working on brushing out the lower portion of Graham #33 and performing tread widening and improvement. This is our #1 priority. If I’m able to divert some crewmembers to another location it will be on the mid segment of trail of Coal Cr. #41 performing similar work. You will see the areas we’ll work highlighted as white blobs on the attached map.

A list of items PANTRA members could perform are:

*Ride the upper portions above the connection junction on #33 and #41 and log out any new blowdowns and improve cuts on logs that don’t meet spec. (8’ wide cuts, 4’ cleared on each side from centerline of trail)

*Ride Graham Ridge #17 and log out any new blowdowns and improve cuts on logs that don’t meet spec. (8’ wide cuts, 4’ cleared on each side from centerline of trail)

*Ride Graham-Coal Connection #18 and log out any new blowdowns and improve cuts on logs that don’t meet spec. (8’ wide cuts, 4’ cleared on each side from centerline of trail)

*Perform spot fixes to tread where uprooting has caused tread damage or where water isn’t draining off tread. Spot brush in places along either of the before mentioned portions of trail assigned to your group.

*Lastly, take some notes of any major issues your folks encounter with the trail so we are aware of the issues and can start making plans to fix them

I anticipate we’ll be out on the ground starting work no later than 0800 (with more likely a start up on the trail closer to 0700). It’s not a big deal when your folks want to mobilize, feel free to coordinate with your folks as you see fit. I’m positive that there’s enough work on your list of items to keep you entertained through the day. We will plan on pulling off the project probably around 3 pm. I will be on the lower end of #33 right off the river road so feel free to stop by and tie in with us as you start your day and any time you feel the need. We’ll be on foot with brush saws and hand tools, I would expect your folks to be on MB’s in order to cover the most area. Any ?’s give me a shout. I’ll try to give you a call mid to late next week to make sure we’re on the same page and iron out any kinks that may come up. Thanks for the help, effort and time committed to pulling off the work day Tom. We appreciate what you and your folks do out on the trails Tom. And we look forward to partnering with you for the day out on the project.:-)
