Like Randy, I am thinking about a Saturday ride. Sunday belongs to Sandy...

I'm game for Saturday. Sunday probably doesn't work. Prefer Nettleton parking over Fernan parking. Perhaps meet at Jump Station if Motorhead/others are coming from the gun range?

It would be nice to sleep in just a little since riding days always seems to start at 5:30AM. I'm voting for Nettleton...

I can do Sunday. The gun range parking lot is preferred.

| the gun range lot is straight down sherman ave.go under the freeway, past the ranger station and follow the winding road by fernan lake. its about 2 miles past the lake on the left. the lot has a rock hopper and some giant piles of rocks in it right now, but theres still plenty of parking. leaving from the range lot puts you into the better part of canfield in my opinion

I have never started from the gun range parking lot, but thought the gun range was on the right side of the road just as the road starts to climb. Is the parking lot across the street from the range?
I'm in for a Saturday ride starting at the gun range. Do we have a time yet? It's quite a haul from North of Spokane, so hopefully, everyone will want to start at 9-9:30.

Since we're carpooling and you're my ride, I'll defer to your call on place and time, but here's my thoughts ...
Nettleton is significantly closer for us (by about 15 minutes each direction). The exit is farther down I-90 and then you snake around Fernan Lake and climb into forest a bit.
Which parking lot is better to originate a ride is matter of differing opinion. I like Nettleton as it gives great access to trail 1 and the west side hillclimbing play area. The Fernan parking lot gives access to east Canfield better, (e.g. such as trail 28 leading to Burnt Cabin), but I'd bet there's more snow back there so we're probably better riding on the west areas.
So far, for Saturday it looks like Randy, Brian, you, me and possibly mojoscojo. Sounds like the people preferring the gun range are riding Sunday (e.g. Motorhead and Ed).
On time, if we start at 10am or later the day can thaw up a bit more since it will probably still be freezing at 9am, (especially in the forests).
My two cents, but I'll defer to everyone's preferences.
Steve

| As of Monday 3/1 the Gun range lot was pretty much inaccessible - all dug up and earth-moving equipment all over the place. Also there were long delays waiting for a pilot car to get in and out the road along the lake. Things may have changed by now but I would bet not. We had to park on a turnout up the hill.
